Hyperfocal Distance, Depth of Field and the Circle of Confusion. The hyperfocal distance is the precise focus distance at which depth of field is maximised for a given aperture and focal length combination. It's much used in landscape photography to gain a full "through the scene" sense of sharpness. Depth of field is affected also by the way you view a picture, how much it is enlarged, what the viewing distance is, and the pixel density on the sensor.
2. Activate Depth of Field. KeyShot's depth of field settings is located in the Camera tab of the Project window. Just below the Lens Settings and Stereo options, you'll see the Depth of Field options. When you activate Depth of Field, by clicking the checkbox, you'll notice two settings, Focal Distance and F-stop.
The Depth of Field (DOF) has no direct parameter. If enabled, it will override the DOF from Iray. DoF Calculator. This app enables you to quickly calculate depth of field and hyperfocal distance, using sliders. In this example, hyperfocal distance is approx. 9m for 50mm focal length and f/11. There are various apps for calculating depth of field with your smart device; some must be purchased and some are free.
A shallow depth of field is the small or narrow area in an image that is in focus. Often, the background is blurred while only the subject stays in focus. The further the subject is from the background dramatically decreases the depth of field as it gives the image some depth. The distance between subjects will also give this effect
The distance in which the depth of field effect should be sharp. This value is measured in Unreal Units (cm). Depth Blur km for 50%.
